iPhone and mobile book publisher Intelligenti Publishing has been awarded £10,000 and the right to create an official iPhone app for O2 as part of the O2 Litmus project‘s app challenge.

As the Litmus blog confirms, Intelligenti’s Jonathan Bonnick goes home with the prize for his submission, an “O2 Tips and Tricks” app, which O2 will look to release in the coming months.

Bristol-based Intelligenti also publishes Tips and Tricks – the Ultimate Guide to iPhone Secrets as a standalone iPhone app priced £0.59p.

Just as O2 rolled out its MyO2 app this month so that customers can view their account at a glance, the company is looking to cement relationships with customers and offer additional, unique no-cost services.

With Orange and Vodafone both set to destroy its exclusive grip on the iPhone, it needs to do all it can to keep hold of users whether though the on-going Treats giveaways and offers scheme, first preference on tickets to shows at the O2 Arena or useful apps.

Will it work? O2 will release more details in the next few days.
