CBS And Sprint Release ‘Survivor’ App on Palm Pre

CBS's Survivor Palm Pre App

An application based on the “Survivor” reality TV show has launched on the Palm (NSDQ: PALM) Pre in time for the 20th season filmed in Samoa, according to CBS Interactive (NYSE: CBS). So far, the number of applications on the Pre have been limited, so the addition of a major TV show like “Survivor” before it launches on the iPhone, is worth noting. Of course, it helps that Sprint (NYSE: S) is a sponsor of the TV show and application. Release.

The free app was developed by Seattle-based Treemo Labs, and has a variety of features, including full TV episodes that will stream to the phone, starting the day after the show runs. In addition, users will be able to watch clips of the eliminated Survivors, access to their Survivor fantasy team and a weekly chance to win $10,000 for voting for the “Player of the Week” competition. CBS Mobile also built a mobile web site at m.survivor.com that can be accessed on other phones, although there’s less content there.
