London-based online restaurant bookings service Livebookings has raised $16 million (£10.13 million) in VC funding from Wellington Partners and previous investors as it looks to build its list of partner restaurants and affiliate booking sites across Europe and further afield.
The site points out, citing unspecified statistics, that seven percent of restaurants use online booking systems, illustrating the kind of growth potential that attracts VC suitors. The company also claims the amount of online bookings doubled from summer 2008 to summer 2009.
The site raised £6.5 million in a round led by Balderton Capital in March 2008.
