Pocket Informant 9 Launched in Stealth Mode for Windows Mobile

PI logoOne of the best programs for the Windows Mobile platform is Pocket Informant by WebIS. PI has been one of the top-selling programs for WinMo for years, and the folks at WebIS have been madly working on the next version for a good while. An observant tipster has pointed to a note on the developer’s blog that PI 9 will be “soft launching” next week.

What is a SOFT launch? That’s where we provide you with PI 9 before we’re 100 percent ready with the ancillary stuff. The code is finished, but all that stuff around it isn’t. I was going to do that this past weekend, but I’ve got 50 things all on my plate and that slipped. I then decided I wanted to get some of the stuff that’s been sitting in FTF for a bit as a finished release before we get to PI just so that it’s not sitting around. I still have FlexMail 4.11 to publish before I get PI 9 out there.

For the soft-launch of PI 9 we won’t be updating the web site. We’ll put the files up (including unfinished localizations) and point to them from our Twitter account. You’ll have to run in trial mode until we do the official launch which will be Sept. 28.

It looks like the trial version of PI 9 is already out there in CAB form, so fire up your WinMo phone and get downloading.
