Who would have thought, but Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) is helping advertise Pizza Hut’s iPhone app in its latest round of TV commercials.
AdAge.com reports that the pizza chain’s app is the first for the fast-food space, but it must also be one of the first that primarily serves an advertisement for another entity. Ian Wolfman, chief marketer for Pizza Hut’s digital agency, IMC2, said they planned to contact Apple about being included in a campaign, but Apple actually contacted them first. “And they moved quickly,” he said.
The initial call came three weeks ago, and the commercial started appearing last night in high-profile shows, like the season premier of “House,” “The Big Bang Theory” and “Monday Night Football.” The app let’s Pizza Hut customers browse a menu and order, and offers other entertaining options, like a
