Google (NSDQ: GOOG) News went offline for about two hours Tuesday afternoon. The company won’t say what happened, how widespread the outage was (it affected a number of people I know in different geographic areas). or what caused it. Here’s what they would say:
“Today, from about 12:25 p.m. to 2:20 p.m. PDT, many users experienced difficulties accessing Google News. We know how important Google News is to our users, and we take issues like this very seriously. This issue has now been resolved. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
And that’s pretty much all they have to say given that users don’t pay for Google News. But the media execs looking at Google for possible business models may want to hear more.
