NextBio Raises $8 Million For Life Sciences Search Engine

Nextbio

NextBio — which has carved out a niche for itself in specialized scientific searches — has raised $8 million in a third round of funding led by Newbury Ventures. NextBio’s search engine is aimed at researchers and helps them find scientific literature, clinical trials, and scientific news (Example queries: “DNA fingerprint,” “IGF1,” “Response to oxidative stress”). It’s free to use, although NextBio also sells specialized search solutions to big pharmaceutical companies, including Johnson & Johnson and Eli Lilly, as well as universities, including Stanford. New funds will be used to fund growth — including an international expansion. Release.
