Breaking: M.K. Venu To Become Editor Of The Financial Express

The Economic Times‘ opinions editor M.K. Venu is becoming managing editor at The Financial Express, the 48-year-old business daily from The Indian Express Ltd, according to multiple sources close to the development. He will start in the first week of October. Venu declined comment for this story.

Venu will be replacing Sandipan Deb, who left in January 2008 to launch RPG Group’s Open magazine. He will report to Shekhar Gupta, the group editor-in-chief.

Venu has worked at ET for thirteen years in two stints. He has also worked at Hindustan Times and Business Standard. He writes a fortnightly column–MoneyTalk–for ET’s editorial pages.

A spokesperson for The Indian Express declined comment.

Venu had joined The Indian Express in early 2008 to head up the Express Opinion Centre but returned to ET as editor, opinion, almost immediately.
