Microsoft Office Web Starts Rolling Out Preview Invites Today

We were all excited when we heard about the upcoming new Office Web apps that Microsoft will be rolling out next year. That excitement was tempered a bit when we found out we’d have to wait a good while before getting a chance to try it out. Office Web is the suite that will offer very full Word, Excel, OneNote and Powerpoint apps in the browser. You’ll be able to use Office Web to get your work done from any computer with a browser. You might even be able to use the same Office Web apps on a Mac. Wouldn’t that be something?

Our friends at WebWorkerDaily got some reliable information that Office Web Technical Preview invites would start going out today on a limited basis. This is very cool as it means the preview is for real and should be getting bigger all the time. Simon at WWD got a chance to demo the Web Apps and he’s as stoked as we are about them. Check out his thoughts and you’ll see what has us raring to go all cloudy.
