AP Mobile Now Has Access To All Of McClatchy's 30 Newspapers

AP Mobile iPhone App

The McClatchy Company (NYSE: MNI) has decided to sign up all its 30 newspapers to the Associated Press Mobile news network, the companies said. Three McClatchy papers are already part of AP Mobile — The Miami Herald and The Sacramento Bee became part of AP Mobile last year, while McClatchy’s El Nuevo Herald was the first Spanish-language outlet on the mobile network.

While 1,000 AP members already have handed over their content to the AP Mobile network, the addition of McClatchy’s other papers will fill gaps in its local coverage. The AP has been moving to expand its mobile offerings for the past year. At the same time, it has been trying to provide more benefits to its members, a small handful of whom have been in revolt over its pricing structures, though the AP has been trying to ameliorate the pain of high costs by lowering some fees in the hope of getting more online deals.
