Industry Moves Roundup: Hearst Digital; The Root; Rooftop Media; EMI

Hearst Magazines Digital: Good Housekeeping‘s publisher has chosen Mark Weinberg to fill a new VP of programming and product strategy position. Weinberg will report to SVP and GM of the digital division, Chuck Cordray, about developing brand identities and initiatives online for Hearst titles.

The Root: Former chief content officer of Vibe Media Group Danyel Smith is taking her place at The Root, a news and social commentary site targeting African-Americans. She will be the site’s executive editor, working closely with Editor-in-Chief Henry Louis Gates Jr.

Rooftop Media: The comedy portal is looking to laugh up some ad revenue with their recent hire, internet ad pioneer Rick Boyce. Boyce — who is one of the first people to sell banner ads on a commercial web site — will be their new SVP of Business Development, overseeing all the company’s new business deals.

EMI: Timothy Ryan, former *AOL* and Setanta marketing executive, joins as SVP for catalog marketing, overseeing the promotion of the company
