Bob Geldof’s Ten Alps production company has already signaled its intention to expand across the UK through bidding for public service broadcasting fund, but its expansion aims are now truly global. The company on Friday announced a three-year partnership with BBC Worldwide whereby the broadcaster will fund its documentary maker subsidiaries and help sell the content worldwide. In return the Beeb gets exclusive first option to distribute the rights globally. The Ten Alps companies involved are Brook Lapping, Blakeway, Films of Record and Below the Radar. Release.
This comes just one week after the company announced its expansion into Asia with the opening of a Singapore office and the acquisition of factual TV company Uproar Asia PTE and its Vietnamese, Malaysian and US programmes for about £562,000, based on £30,000 in upfront cash and and a two-year earnout clause. The company will look to replicate its online and TV portfolio model in the UK plus its UK assets with an Asian leaning will benefit from local Asian ad sales opportunities.
