Broadband Content Bits: Spotify In-Store Sales; Eircom Music Service; BBC Mobile Search

Spotify: Online music streamer Spotify is selling premium subscriptions in two physical store chains in its native Sweden. Pressbyrån and 7-Eleven customers can buy three-, six- or 12-month subscriptions just as they would buy mobile-phone credit. The company says in a blog post that this is just one of “many payment options” coming soon, including a much-anticipated iPhone app.

Eircom: The Irish ISP has blocked access to Swedish torrent-tracker The Pirate Bay, after gaining permission from the Irish High Court, and will in coming months launch an “innovative new music service” in partnership with the four major labels. Release.

BBC mobile search: The BBC has, after many months of development, launched a beta search service on the BBC Mobile homepage. Now news, sport, TV pages and (for enabled handsets) the iPlayer are all searchable using a mobile phone. More from the BBC Internet Blog.
