I have stirred up a bit of interest with my coverage of the little UMPC setup I use occasionally. The portable keyboard and mouse I use gets a lot of attention in particular, as folks are definitely interested in portable wireless versions. The folks at G-Cube make a wireless keyboard and mouse that some may find useful. Our friends at The Gadgeteer have taken a look at them and published a review of the pair.

The keyboard is not of the folding variety, and while that may appeal to some it means that G-Cube had to do something to make an undersized keyboard more usable. They implemented an unusual arrangement with the keys as a result. It’s hard to describe properly — take a look at the photo and you’ll see what I mean. G-Cube makes this in a variety of colors so pink is not the only option.

Overall the reviewer seemed to find the G-Cube offering to be reasonable, if a bit expensive:

Overall, the G-Cube set is good, but it didn’t blow me away. The included battery charger is handy, but I’m not sure it justifies the $60 price tag. However, if you’re looking for a compact wireless keyboard for a media center or kitchen computer – or just to keep handy when you want a bigger keyboard on your laptop or netbook, I’d say that this is a good choice.
