– NYT Regional: The New York Times Company (NYSE: NYT) has appointed Dan E. Shorter as VP of digital media for its regional papers; he will report to Michael Golden, president and COO of Regional Media Group, and vice chairman of the Times Company. Shorter previously served as president, digital media, for The Minneapolis Star Tribune from 2008 to 2009. Previouslyhe worked for Cox Enterprises from 1978 to 2008, most recently as GM of PalmBeachPost.com from 2001 to 2008.
— Shasta Ventures: Michael Buhr, the former GM of StumbleUpon and senior director of corporate strategy at eBay (NSDQ: EBAY), will be an Entrepreneur in Residence at the early-stage venture firm.
— Vibe Lifestyle Network: After being shuttered in June, Vibe is coming back in November with a new editor-in-chief and co-CEO/chief creative officer. Former King EIC (and Vibe webmaster) Jermaine Hall will be the magazine’s chief, while the former CEO of the YES Network Brett Wright will help manage the Vibe Lifestyle Network brand, which encompasses both the print and web side of the venture.
— Lime Wire: Zeeshan Zaidi is the new head of global for open-source peer-to-peer software company Lime Wire. He was previously the COO of Nabbr. Before Nabbr, Zaidi was a VP at both Sony (NYSE: SNE) BMG and RCA Music Group.
