Mihir Bose To Write Weekly Interview For London Evening Standard

By Stephen Brook: Former BBC sports news editor Mihir Bose has taken his first job since leaving the corporation earlier this month, joining the London Evening Standard as a contributor.

Bose, who resigned from the BBC, will write a weekly interview with a prominent sporting personality.

“We are absolutely delighted that Mihir will be writing regularly for the paper and be bringing his incisive and brilliant writing to the sports pages,” said the Evening Standard managing editor, Doug Wills.

Bose, a former Daily Telegraph journalist, joined the BBC in January 2007 as its first sports news editor.

His brief was to expand sports coverage and appear regularly on news bulletins as well as contributing to the BBC1 weekly sports magazine show Inside Sport.

Bose worked with the Evening Standard’s deputy editor, Sarah Sands, when they were at the Telegraph together, and when Sands was editing Reader’s Digest she commissioned him to write about an immigrant’s experience of Britain.

Bose was born in India and moved to the UK to attend university. Before joining the BBC, he was a print journalist for 30 years, working for the Telegraph and the Sunday Times. He has written 21 books. He started his journalistic career at LBC.
