Picture dialers on phones are useful tools — just glance at your faves, tap a picture and you’re either calling or texting them. But while the Palm Pre is missing such a photo dialer, once again, the homebrew community has come to the rescue. Quick Contacts makes it a breeze to pick nine close friends to add to the “favorites” screen.
The screen gives one-tap access to both the Contacts and the Messaging apps at the bottom, and there’s also a button for the Dialer app, so basically you can leave Quick Contacts running all the time. It’s one of the advantages of having a phone that can multitask.
Quick Contacts is free while in beta and is expected to go to the main Pre App Catalog once officially released. And the developer is offering free lifetime updates — even after the official launch — for those who make a $5 donation for the homebrew app.
