Firefox users love to try out new versions of the open-source web browser. Mozilla is always adding good features and improving the underlying technology, so trying new versions can be a great experience. The problem is that existing, stable versions get overwritten. As good as the early versions can be, they are prone to have a few bugs. What’s a Firefox enthusiast to do?
The newest version of Firefox, 3.7a1pre, is early alpha. Even so, it can be tested without compromising existing versions of Firefox thanks to the folks at PortableAppz. They’ve created a portable version of Firefox 3.7a1pre that can be downloaded to a USB drive and run from there. There’s no installation required, so existing versions of Firefox are safe. If you just can’t wait to see the latest Gecko-rendering agent, fire away.
