Android Phones Gain PowerPoint, PDF Support

DTG2_Android_04_WordToGoWith the news that Microsoft may license Office for use on Nokia handsets, you’d think that third-party developers offering productivity software  might be concerned. They have a right to be, but it isn’t stopping them. DataViz just announced a new version of Documents To Go for Android devices. Version 2.0 includes support for Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe PDF files, as well as some enhancements to the Word and Excel features.

Slideshow To Go supports viewing, editing and creation of PowerPoint Presentations. PDF To Go is a view function only but supports several options: page view, word wrap, zoom, auto-rotate, select and copy, and support for password-protected PDF files. Documents To Go users can now use advanced features in docs and spreadsheets: find and replace, word count, additional format options and more.

The company says that Documents To Go 2.0 can be used as a free, view-only version on Android devices as well. You can find the paid version in the Android Market for $29.99 if you want to access all of the advanced and editing features. Or if you use the free version and want to unlock the premium features, the software will simply prompt you to purchase a full license.
