Portfolio.com, the website of the defunct Conde Nast magazine Portfolio, has relaunched, after about two weeks of delay from the original plan. This comes three months after the mag was shut, and the ownership of the website was transferred to sister company American City Business Journals. The focus is more business now, than the biz lifestyle that the original Portfolio was supposed to do.
Besides its own small team (some re-hired from the original Portfolio), the site will be a gateway for content from other Biz Journals weekly biz papers, Sports Business Journal, Sporting News and other Conde Nast content, it says. It will focus deeper on specific sectors: health care, tech, banking and finance, ad and marketing, media and aviation.
It is a phased launch and by fall it will be up to speed, it says. The new incarnation will have more success than the previous version, but that’s an easy target to beat. Whether it ever develops as a bigger hub of biz news, remains to be seen, but unlikely in the face of competition.
