There’s plenty of info to digest in the latest quarterly report from analyst Chetan Sharma, who doubles as a member of the GigaOM Pro Analyst Network. But perhaps the most important trend is a steadily increasing appetite for mobile data services among U.S. consumers — and the impact that hunger will have on wireless networks. As Sharma notes, carriers must adopt “a multi-pronged strategy” to handle the ramped-up traffic. Which is why I expect to see a host of potential solutions to gain traction in the next year or two, from better Wi-Fi integration to content services that automatically download during off-peak hours.
