For anyone reading the tea leaves, it should come as no surprise that Motorola will be offering a few Android handsets this year. Om spoke with Moto CEO, Dr. Sanjay Jha, and generally confirmed that the handset maker is focusing on Google’s Android instead of Microsoft’s Windows Mobile for smartphones.
We already knew about the “Sholes” handset, but the Morrison is a new entry coming soon for Motorola. Android and Me has a rundown of the expected specifications and they’re generally in line with current Android devices. One of the most notable differences I see between the rumored Morrison specs and currently available Android devices is in the camera sensor — Android and Me is expecting a 5 megapixel shooter.
Phandroid caught a glimpse of the expected handset last month and ran the above picture of Morrison. Fans of hardware keypads have something to look forward to if the pic is legit. From this perspective, the keys appear a little small and close together, but of course, you could always use the software keyboard that appeared in the last Android release. Android and Me says Motorola is shooting for an October 21st delivery date. Since Dr. Jha is the keynote speaker at Mobilize 09 next month, we’ll have to back him into a corner for confirmation. ;)
