BET is scaling out its mobile content division, and has tapped former MySpace exec Brandon Lucas as its new VP and GM of BET Mobile. Lucas, who most recently served as executive director of business development at MySpace, spent two years helping to grow some of the social net’s mobile partnerships with companies like *Apple*, RIM and *Verizon* Wireless.
Lucas will be based in LA; reporting directly Denmark West, BET’s president of digital media. The cable network’s focus on mobile content development comes on the heels of research from the Pew Internet & American Life Project that found that African-Americans were the most active users of the mobile web.
