Mobile music search firm Melodis has raised $4 million in a round of funding led by Walden Venture Capital. Notably, Melodis said that “a major global device manufacturer” also participated in the round. Melodis did not identify the manufacturer, although it did announce in early July that it had partnered with Samsung to put Midomi’s technology on new Windows Mobile Samsung phones. Midomi’s iPhone app lets users identify music they hear playing or that they hum and then buy it or share it. It competes directly with Shazam. Another Melodis product, a voice dialer, lets people dial from their iPhones using their voice. Melodis raised $7 million in a third round in October. Release.
