Eric Schmidt’s departure from the Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) board had to happen but this executive change comes as a real surprise: Catherine Mathis, the chief spokeswoman for the New York Times Co. (NYSE: NYT), has resigned after 12 years — and, of course, the news emerged from a memo by CEO Janet Robinson leaked to The Awl.
