Eager to show progress, Clearwire (NSDQ: CLWR) announced today that it will officially launch its Clear WiMax service on Sept. 1 in 10 markets, including eight cities in Texas. The areas include: Boise, Idaho; Bellingham, Wash.; and the eight Texas markets, consisting of Abilene, Amarillo, Corpus Christi, Lubbock, Midland/Odessa, Killeen/Temple, Waco and Wichita Falls. Release.

The 10 markets join four Clearwire markets that are already live, including Atlanta, Baltimore, Las Vegas and Portland, Ore. The company says its on track to still launch in 80 markets, covering 120 million people, by the end of 2010.

Launching more markets is critical because it gives the company’s joint venture partners, including Comcast (NSDQ: CMCSA), Time Warner (NYSE: TWX), Sprint (NYSE: S) and Bright House incentive to market and resell the service.
