Sun TV Network Ltd, the dominant south Indian broadcaster, surpassed expectations to post a 17% growth in net profit year-on-year. The company’s revenues grew 29%, once again underscoring that regional and local advertising has not been affected nearly as much as national and metro advertising. Hindi language publisher Jagran Prakashan Ltd yesterday said advertising revenue grew 15%, while HT Media Ltd, which runs two prominent English dailies, posted a 1% increase in ad revenues.

A TV18 poll of analysts forecast a 13% growth in PAT and a 20% growth in revenues.

Ebitda rose 32.40% to Rs223.61 crore. “The channels have been able to maintain its advertising growth resulting out of a well diversified mix of clients (national, regional and local) across multiple product categories,” the company said in a statement.
