Tug Of War Continues Over The Palm Pre Syncing With iTunes

Palm Pre

Palm (NSDQ: PALM) has released a new version of its webOS software, enabling the device to again sync with iTunes after Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) disabled the feature earlier this month.

The fix highlights the growing competition between the two smartphone makers. When Palm released the Pre, one of the intriguing features is that it synced with iTunes, just like the iPhone or iPod. But a little less than two weeks ago, Apple released a new version of the iTunes, which disabled the feature.

Palm is fighting back today, by releasing OS version 1.1.0. Engadget reports that the it “resolves an issue preventing media sync from working with latest version of iTunes (8.2.1),” and it adds other features, like emoticons and Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) Exchange. It also adds the phones 31st app, which is a Sprint (NYSE: S) exclusive — NFL Mobile Live, which let’s you watch games and audio from the device.
