Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd, publisher of The Times of India and one of India’s largest media companies, has hired Shankar Narayan as CFO (via E4M). Narayan comes from beleaguered broadcaster INX Media Pvt. Ltd, where he was CFO from the time the company was founded. Narayan confirmed the development.
Prior to INX, he was CFO at News Corp (NYSE: NWS). subsidiary Star India Pvt. Ltd. Narayan’s boss at Star, CEO Peter Mukerjea, set up INX Media with funding from a host of private equity firms. Narayan’s predecessor at BCCL, G. Subramaniam, was also Star CFO before joining the publisher and in fact had succeeded Narayan at Star. Times Private Treaties CEO S. Sivakumar was handling the finance function at the company in the interim period.
INX has not yet named a replacement for Narayan. Bhupendra Makhi, VP, finance, is handling the function.
