DMGT is winning more and more business by helping its competitors. After striking deals to sell Hellomagazine.com and unsold Independent.co.uk ads, it’ now won a contract to supply Johnston Press with job ad boards.
The move should free debt-laden Johnston of the burden of managing its own job ads. Not that anyone is profiting much from recruitment classifieds at the moment – in the six months to March, DMGT’s regional job ad income was 33 percent down from the year before and Johnston’s are thought to have fallen heavily, too, though a specific figure wasn’t given.
