Research In Motion will pay $267.5 million to wireless-email provider Visto to end a long-running patent dispute. In exchange, RIM (NSDQ: RIMM) is licensing all of Visto’s patents in perpetuity and also will receive some intellectual property, MarketWatch reports.
The payment stems from a suit filed by Redwood Shores, Calif.-based Visto several years ago. The settlement resolves all outstanding issues and both sides also agreed to terminate existing lawsuits.
