Google Android Safe- 3 More Desserts This Year

dessertsThe recent announcement about Google Chrome OS caused some concern among Android enthusiasts who foresaw the end of the smartphone platform. This speculation is for nothing, according to an interview with Google’s Andy Rubin. Rubin confirmed to Information Week that not only will Android continue to evolve, there will be three updates this next year to mature the OS. He also confirmed that Google is naming Android updates after desserts, just as the last one was known as “Cupcake”.

The next three updates will be Donut, Eclair and Flan, in that order. This happens to be alphabetical, if you’re paying attention. Rubin says that Android will be Google’s smartphone platform, and Chrome will not infringe on that territory. He admitted that the Chrome OS will not have telephony features, unlike Android which, of course, does have them.
