There’s a lot of speculation about Amazon acquiring Netflix, which I think makes alot of sense. Pairing the company’s DVD sell through business with Netflix’s DVD-by-Mail and online streaming is ripe for great synergies. Boomtown suggests a Microsoft/Netflix matchup would be better – I am not sold its a better pairing than Amazon/Netflix, but think there might be some nice potential here as well.  Bottom line, I think Netflix is the first to really succeed in OTT subscriptions to the TV, even if it is a hybrid approach combined with their DVD by mail, and this is driving up the company’s value in the mind of suitors. Thinking back to the days where Hastings talked about online streaming and got mocked for it, all I can say is we’ve come along way.
