Access Industries chief Len Blavatnik and fellow billionaire and Irish entrepreneur Dermot Desmond have invested £750,000 in thenod.com, a fashion affiliate marketing play that allows online shoppers to buy clothes worn by the stars, as Telegraph.co.uk reports.
The London-based site site gives a gossipy commentary — with help from users — on what celebrities are wearing and where they’re staying, and provides affiliates links to online fashion store Net-a-porter, Hotels.com, Amazon (NSDQ: AMZN) and others to the products they’re seen with. It could be of great interest to big brands keen to push their product through celeb endorsements: the site says it will speak to stars’ “agents, PRs and industry pals” to find out exactly what they are wearing.
Blavatnik’s last project was an aborted attempt to rescue Irish broadcaster Setanta from administration in the UK.
