– PlayNowPlus: SonyEricsson’s pre-licensed unlimited music download package is to be bundled with some its W595 phone through Orange in Austria, the service’s ninth launch territory. PlayNowPlus, powered by Omnifone, offers unlimited music downloads and music sharing out of the box, on mobile and PC – like Nokia’s Comes With Music, the cost of the music is absorbed in to the handset cost. — Qik on Nokia’s N97: Redwood City, Calif.-based Qik, which provides live video-streaming from mobile phones to the internet, said today that Nokia (NYSE: NOK) has pre-loaded the app on its flagship N97 device. With integration comes a couple of easy-to-use features, such as an interface that supports 19 languages including, support for “nHD quality video,” which allows for a widescreen aspect ratio, and the ability to share content to Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and other social networks.
— MoxieQ launches gay-focused site: New York-based MoxieQ has officially launched a mobile and online entertainment destination geared towared the gay community. The site was founded by Heidi Lehmann, co-founder of Third Screen Media and Kim Olson, a founding member of the Sprint (NYSE: S) Mobile Media Network. The site has “fun and irreverent gay themed content, games, and advice and insights.” The destination is ad-supported with future revenue models to include premium, syndicated and online content. — AT&T (NYSE: T) Tethering, MMS: Gizmodo has a suggestion as to why AT&T isn’t supporting MMS on the iPhone: “Apparently, because people were using MMS with the iPhone 3.0 betas, AT&T put an opt-out on all iPhone accounts. So, theoretically, if AT&T manually (yes…manually) removes all of these opt-outs, MMS would work just fine.” It also claims that AT&T is in the process of sorting out the pricing plan for tethering — $70 per month for unlimited data.
— IPhone Users Buy More Apps On Weekends: Some data has come out suggesting that iPhone users download more apps, including more paid apps, on weekends. Downloads of paid games increase 48 percent on weekends compared to weekdays. (VentureBeat)
