Industry Moves: Lucy Hood Joins Academia As Exec Director at USC B-School’s Division

imageLucy Hood, the former President of Fox Mobile Entertainment and CEO of Jamba (both now part of different divisions within News Corp. (NYSE: NWS), has resurfaced in an official position after almost two years: she has joined USC’s Marshall School of Business, as the Executive Director of the Institute for Communication Technology Management (CTM) and Assistant Professor of Clinical Management and Organization; and no, the word “clinical” doesn’t mean anything to do with health (as I first thought), but as Lucy explained to me, that just means a vertical focus on a specific industry topic for which they have brought in an industry person, versus say a career academician.

She left Fox about in October 2007 amidst a company shakeup, and has since been working in various advisory roles for different companies. At CTM, she will start a three year term starting July 1; CTM’s main role is in telecom/mobile industry research, and executive education. With Hood’s background, she also plans to bring in some bit of digital entertainment focus as well.
