Android Picking Up The Pace

imageThere’s a few reports around about Android devices being launched this year. First up is Acer, which has already incidated it plans to launch Android-based devices. It has now joined the Open Handset Alliance (OHA) and said it will launch Android-based smartphones in the fourth quarter of this year reports CNet. Acer also said it would launch netbooks with the Android operating system in the third quarter of this year, this after Acer said it was testing Android for netbooks but didn’t think it was ready for prime time.

Reuters has a bit of background of the possible benefits of Android and the threat it poses to Windows. In Canada, Rogers Wireless has started selling the Android-powered HTC Dream and HTC Magic notes Engadget, and of course earlier today we reported that T-Mobile USA plans its second Android phone in early summer.
