With the launch of the Palm (NSDQ: PALM) Pre nine days away, reports about the highly anticipated device are running rampant. We already know the device will be available starting June 6 through Sprint (NYSE: S) for $199.99 with a two-year service agreement and after a $100 mail-in rebate, but here are some other things you may not have heard yet:
— Twitter Overload: Don’t worry, Twitter will be available on the Palm Pre. According to Palm’s developer community manager Chuq Von Rospach, there are over 400 applications from developers interested in developing a Twitter client for webOS, reports everythingpre.com. Von Rospach writes: “You can stop submitting applications about building twitter apps. I’m up around 400 now. Good luck standing out in that crowd.”
— Pre coming to Verizon Wireless (NYSE: VZ), maybe AT&T: If you want the Palm Pre, but are hesitating about signing up for a two-year contract with Sprint Nextel, then perhaps you can just wait. It’s unknown how Sprint’s exclusivity lasts, but Verizon’s Lowell McAdam may have let the cat out of the bag when he said it plans to start selling the device in about six months, reports Reuters. Sprint Nextel’s stock fell 3 percent following the comments. AT&T’s CEO Randall Stephenson also said AT&T (NYSE: T) was interested in selling the Pre, although did not provide a specific timeframe, Reuters reported separately. This will likely take a bit more negotiating since the initial Pre will be built using CDMA, which both Sprint and Verizon share.
— Early Palm Pre Review: Boy Genius has what it believes is the first hands-on review of the device. Although Palm has been showing off the device for months at industry trade shows, the press has not been able to hold it in their own hands. Boy Genius has a very preliminary first-hand review . It essentially says the Pre offers a good size, but the keyboard is difficult to use, and often times you press more than one key at the same time. It gives high marks to the screen, which is “awesomely executed and the capacitive touch is so damn beautiful.” Read more here.
— Syncs with Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) iTunes: If you are a big iTunes users, this might come as a pleasant surprise. If you plug the Pre into a Mac, it will sync seamlessly with Apple
