The news about a new “Urban Man Bag” from SF Bags only came out a short while ago, but the folks who make it have already shot me a sample bag to give you a quick look. SF Bags is the company behind the Waterfield Designs bags and sleeves, and the Muzetto messenger bag falls under that line of gear bags. I can only give you a quick look at the bag while I have it, so I have snapped a few pics to whet your appetite.
The Muzetto comes in two sizes, a large size that will accommodate up to a 13-inch laptop, and a slightly smaller size for those with a small netbook or for those who simply want to fit an assortment of smaller gear. Both bags are constructed of butter-soft leather with heavy-duty cloth. The sample I am covering is the larger bag that fits the 13-inch unibody MacBook perfectly. Ordinarily, I don’t care for leather gear bags, as I find them heavy, but this bag feels very light when empty, so I wouldn’t have a problem carrying this around.
The outside of the bag is all leather, and it’s closed via a large flap, as is common to messenger bags. The flap has no closure mechanism, which SF Bags says is due to feedback during the design process. I prefer magnetic closures on flaps like this, but SF Bags found a lot of folks were concerned about the potential for harm to electronic equipment, so the flap simply hangs on the front of the bag. This doesn’t create any problems that I can see, but it’s something to be aware of if this is important to you.

The back of the bag has a large pocket running the height of the bag that can easily accommodate paper or magazines and the like. It is lined with a soft cloth, as are all of the pockets in the bag.
Opening up the Muzetto exposes the fabric panel, which is available in six different colors. This sample bag is the Flame color for reference. There is a big flat pocket on the inside front of the bag which can accommodate accessories, and inside this large pocket is a smaller pocket at the top constructed of very soft fabric that can handle audio players and such. The inside of the front flap is constructed out of the same colored fabric as the big pocket.
Behind this big front pocket is the main compartment that is constructed out of gold fabric to protect any laptop stored inside. It is a single compartment that contains a pocket with a zipper closure on the inside front of this compartment that is as big as the inside of the bag. This could be used to carry things separate from the laptop to prevent scratching.
The bag has a durable shoulder strap constructed out of heavy-duty fabric, and there is a removable shoulder pad for comfort. This pad is constructed out of the same leather as the bag with a skid-free rubber coating on the underside. The pad attaches to the shoulder strap via Velcro.
The Waterfield Designs Muzetto “Urban Man Bag” from SF Bags is a stylish messenger bag for the person on the go. It offers a look that is modern and not too much like a purse. The bag is a bit pricey, but is well-constructed and looks ready to take on the bumps and bruises of daily heavy usage. The smaller bag, or “Personal Muzetto”, is $179, and the larger bag, “Laptop Muzetto”, is $239.
