It’s very logical to come to the conclusion that a smartphone is best used for highly technical things, like extending the enterprise into the field, or 3D video games, but increasing it’s also being used to babysit children, who are easily soothed by noises or simple games that they can make.
USA Today reports that mothers and fathers are turning to their iPhones and other smart devices to entertain their young ones. Today, there’s a plethora of applications available, ranging from apps that rattle when you shake them, or apps that make white noise to quiet screaming infants, and simple games targeting grade school or younger kids. The simple end of the scale, parents can download videos or music to the phone to entertain kids while in a long car ride or airplane trip. On the fancier end of the scale, USA Today reports that there’s an app that acts like a baby monitor. When left in the crib, it will automatically dial another phone number when the baby makes a noise.
But be aware. You may not know what you are getting into. Kara Swisher from All Things D has a couple of good videos to share about iPhone-obsessed toddlers, who scream “iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiyiiiiiPhoooooooooone!”
