Kevin is still enamored with his MSI Wind U100 netbook, and rightly so. It is as capable as netbooks get, and yet portable enough to carry anywhere. The folks at MSI just let us know that their newest model, the U123, has taken up where the previous models left off.
The U123 has a 10.2-inch (1024×600) screen that is driven by the new Intel Atom Z280 processor running at 1.66 GHz, so it’s no slouch. The same great Wind keyboard is present and accounted for, and MSI has some nice touches like the EasyFace identification utility. That’s the one that recognizes you when you want to log in, as long as you’re authorized to use that netbook.
The U123 starts at $379 with a six-cell battery, but MSI has a nine-cell battery option to stretch your time away from an outlet. It is available in red or blue, if you’re the flashy type, or the standard white or gray if you like to keep things toned down.
