Microsoft Launches Open Beta Of My Phone

imageMicrosoft (NSDQ: MSFT) has moved its My Phone service into open beta, allowing anyone with a Windows Mobile 6.0 or 6.1 handset to download it here. The service lets people automatically backup contacts, photos, video, calendar, text messages and more from their phone. Their data gets backed up to a password-protected Web account, allowing people to restore information easily to a new device. The release talks about the 8 million phones lost in the US of which about a third are never recovered, but it could be equally useful when upgrading a phone.
