Broadband Content Bits: ITN Source Does Music; CNBC Mobile; BSkyB Ads; Zoopla Widget

imageITN Source: ITN’s multimedia division is adding music to its thousands of hours of TV footage through a deal with EMI Music-owned digital music distributor KPM Music. Anyone that buys a clip from ITN Source using its online store (pictured) will be given the option of also downloading one of five related music tracks which are licensed to be broadcast with the clip simultaneously. KPM represents artist that written music for film and TV and its catalogue includes many TV show themes and film scores.

CNBC mobile US business news TV network CNBC has expanded its SMS news alert service to the UK this week, providing London and European stock market and financial news updates. The service will send out three texts per day — at a cost of 25p each — one at 10am, one at 4.45pm and one later on detailing who will be CNBC’s guests and analysts the following day. CNBC claims to reach 110 million homes and more than 1,000 banks and financial institutions in the EMEA region.

BSkyB (NYSE: BSY) ads: Sky Media has bagged a big name advertiser for its “green button” on demand Sky Anytime VOD TV service: Universal Music’s UK division Decca Records has signed a five-figure deal to plug jazz singer Melody Gardot’s album via pre- and post-roll ads surrounding the Sky 1 drama Lie to Me as well as some movies. Zoopla: Independent property listings site and house price index Zoopla is expanding out of its portal-based model to allow estate agents to embed a search widget linked to Zoopla’s house price search engine on their own sites for free. Zoopla’s database of prices goes back 14 years and agents can create customised search widgets featuring the average local, regional or national price as search fields.
