Sling Media’s SlingPlayer for the iPhone will launch tomorrow, hitting the App store for $30 — about what it charges on other mobile platforms. In January, the company said it planned to submit the application to Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) in the first quarter and that it would work over Wi-Fi and 3G. But starting tomorrow, the service will only operate over Wi-Fi to placate AT&T (NYSE: T) (which keeps fiddling with its Terms of Service about doing high-bandwidth activities, like streaming video, over its network).
On a positive note, and contrary to previous reports, the app be compatible with older Slingboxes (even though Sling will not guarantee it), according to Wired. MacWorld has a bit of a review up based on a pre-released version of the iPhone app.
