Industry Moves: Telegraph Hires Ex-Orange Exec As Digital Head

The latest in a steady stream of commercial job changes at Telegraph Media Group, the company has appointed former head of Orange’s UK ad operations Paul de la Nougerede as its head of online commercial operations (via Mediaweek). He will look after all aspects of commercial strategy including marketing, client services, traffic management and sponsorship deals. De la Nougerede spent seven years at Orange and held several roles in including head of portal analytics and homepage editor and previously worked as a media researcher for the Financial Times.

TMG has in recent years emerged as one of the most enthusiastic employers of senior online talent among newspaper groups — at the same time as downsizing its print-based editorial staff and outsourcing some of its newspaper production duties. Last month TMG hired Daniel Best — the former head of advertising at defeated BBC-ITV-Channel4 JV Project Kangaroo — as director of media solutions, a newly created role encompassing sales and commercial activity across print and online. In March Nancy Cruickshank joined from Videojug as executive director of digital development. Digital general manager Mike Moore left in October to later join behavioural targeting advertiser Phorm.
