imageIt’s only Tuesday, but if you’re having trouble keeping up with all the rumors swirling this week around various combinations of Verizon Wireless (NYSE: VZ), Apple (NSDQ: AAPL), Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) and Google (NSDQ: GOOG), here’s a recap:

    All the rumors are small plays. Meanwhile, the big player Nokia announces consolidation of its Internet offerings into a platform to be more open to developers and a better user experience like Apple. Nokia is not going to bill through U.S. carriers indicating that it will not do costly and cumbersome relationships. Apple has many operator contracts, but has results from only one phone. Apple has music and user-friendly UI; Nokia has navigation mapping and proven reliability. Nokia is the pioneer of custom handsets, operator relationships, and diverse portfolio. This week is rumors about who's talking. The coming months will be where Nokia goes.

  2. Verizon is smartly shopping the field to avoid being reliant on a single hit product no matter how hot it is. I think the Google and Microsoft products are sure bets and if they score an Apple device they'll most certainly be able to outpace AT&T in the wireless sector, since they already have RIMM and HTC products.
