Instant messaging service ICQ (now owned by AOL) will start offering free ad-supported mobile games to its users as part of a bid to provide a full cross-platform communication solution to its 42 million worldwide users. ICQ has PC-to-mobile connectivity and mobile IM, and plans a mobile portal that wil offer ad-supported content such as games, video and applications. The games will have viral distribution via a “send to a friend” option, as well as an online tournament with advertisers’ prizes. The ad service will be run by innerActive Smart Media
