Broadband Content Bits: On Demand Group; Smartclip; Reuters Health Videos; Blinx’s Green Videos

imageOn Demand Group: The technology provider for Virgin Media’s VOD TV service, On Demand Group, has extended its contract with the telco for another four years. The SeaChange International-owned company has provided rights management, on-screen marketing, encoding and content preparation for VMED’s TV On Demand since its 2007 launch. The service’s 3.5 million subscribers watched more than 500 million programmes via on demand last year.

Smartclip: German video advertising network Smartclip today launches its UK site, one year after the launch of its main site. So far the company has run 180 ad campaigns via its 300 partner sites and specialises in converting TV adverts to short-form online video slots.

Reuters Health: Another online video deal for Reuters: the agency’s health division has signed a deal with The Doctor’s Channel to provide daily, co-branded healthcare video bulletins. They will appear on Thedoctorschannel.com and are being made available for syndication. Release.

Blinx: Video search engine Blinx has signed ad-funded content partnerships with three green-minded businesses: lifestyle portal Gaiam, environmental blog The Green Girls and gardening site GardenGirlTV. Blinx will place contextual ads on videos from all three and share revenues. Release.

Connect2Media: Manchester-based mobile games distribution business Connect2Media has signed a deal to distribute Canadian developer Magmic Games‘ catalogue of more than 20 games outside of North America.
