Fox Mobile Expands Ringtone Distribution With AOL Deal

In lieu of building its own brand — which has now been on hold for a few months — Fox Mobile continues to expand its reach through new distribution agreements. Fox Mobile Distribution, a unit of Fox Mobile, said today that it has signed agreements with AOL (NYSE: AOL) Europe and AOL Canada to sell ringtones from within the newly-launched Winamp, a popular PC-based media player. Fox Mobile will provide direct links to ringtones from within the player using the Jamba or Jamster-brand, so users can buy the mobile content without leaving the player. (Release.)

In addition, on Monday, Fox Mobile Distribution also announced an exclusive worldwide agreement with the Lingerie Football League (LFL) to offer exclusive mobile content, including wallpapers, video clips, interviews and behind-the-scenes footage, on Jamster. Under the agreement, Fox also gets exclusive rights to distribute content on-deck through carriers. The Lingerie Football League includes ten teams that feature women who will play 7-on-7 tackle football. The 20-week season kicks off in September. Release.
