— NBCU International: The broadcaster has started a new site targeting 20-something women. Kalimocho will be a “younger sister site” to the more mature iVillage lifestyle site. Slim and rather experimental, Kalimocho is edited by Peggy Nuttall, focuses on celebrity, fashion and beauty and is named after a cocktail that mixes red wine and, er, cola.
— 7Digital: That API is paying off for the online music retailer. After winning deals from the Songbird and Spotify music players to power a la carte downloads, 7Digital has now got same from AOL’s aging Winamp player. The deal applies to UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Austria, Portugal and Ireland.
— Digital One: Radio transmitter operator Arqiva has confirmed it’s buying from Global Radio the 63 percent it did not own of the first DAB radio multiplex, Digital One. Prior to its acquisition by Global, GCap last year said it would sell the multiplex as part of a cost cuts package designed to fend off Global’s bid. Things went quiet after the acquisition, but Global now takes full control of the multiple – which carries Classic FM, talkSPORT, Absolute Radio and Planet Rock – as well as the multiplexes on which Global’s local stations operate. Ofcom last year awarded the second multiplex to 4 Digital Group, the stalled DAB consortium. Release.
